BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) conducted sessions on “Creating CLIL Lesson Plans" by Professor Patrick Dougherty on November 2, 2022. Dr. Patrick Dougherty is the Dean of the Faculty of International Liberal Arts at Akita International University in Akita, Japan. He is also the Head of the English for Academic Purposes Program, the Director of the Active Learning Center, and a professor of International Liberal Arts.
Professor Patrick Dougher gave a presentation on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), an approach where students simultaneously learn a subject and a second language. CLIL encourages students to develop the ability to communicate, collaborate, think critically, and be creative. Professor Patrick presented on planning CLIL lessons, The 4 C’s of CLIL, and CLIL lesson plans. The teachers of the BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) participated in the workshop and shared their ideas on CLIL lesson plans.
