An event to share information regarding “Oxford Summer Camp Program 2024” was organized under the Biotechnology Program of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MNS) under the School of Data and Sciences at BRAC University in Dhaka on 8 February 2024.
Run by The Oxford Institute, the summer program enables experiencing life as a student at Oxford University. Its courses provide university students studying for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees around the world with networking opportunities and a chance to interact with professionals in their areas of interest. Emphasis is also given to developing and fine tuning communication skills through a range of public speaking and debating workshops as well as interpersonal, leadership and team working skills.
Mona Masud, Asian Head of The Oxford Institute, gave a presentation at the event, informing that there was a wide range of programs tailored for different age groups and interest in various disciplines. She shed light on its objectives, curriculum, registration process, ease of application through a user-friendly web interface and the importance of adhering to deadlines.
Guests, including faculty members such as Dr Mahbubul Alam Majumdar, Dean of the School of Data and Sciences, and Dr Munima Haque, Director of the Biotechnology Program, highlighted how such programs enabled academic and professional development of students.
Students from across various disciplines, including biotechnology, economics, computer science, microbiology and law, also engaged in insightful discussions and expressed interest in the summer program.
