BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) of BRAC University conducted an online short course on ICT (Information Communications Technology) Integration into Education for the faculty members of Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, a prominent university in Kazakhstan. Md. Shams Ud Duha, Lecturer at BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), conducted the online sessions as the lead facilitator, and Mr. Hamim Al Ahsan, Education Technology Specialist of BRAC University, was the co-facilitator.
The course consisted of seven sessions which covered the history and importance of information and communication technology, use of Google Docs, blogs, Wikis and Wikipedia, podcasts and Moodle in education and collaborative learning.
The closing session of the course took place on May 23, 2017, at the university where the faculty members of BRAC University listened to the reflections of the participants from Kazakhstan on their learning. Ms. Saulet Alpysbayeva, one of the participants of the course and a faculty member of the Kazakh University, mentioned about the effectiveness of the course in the reflection session. She said it was practice-based which was further enhanced with the help of theory. This enabled participants to collaborate by sharing their experiences and expertise.
Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed, Director of BIL, opined that it is high time we promote our expertise to other countries as interaction can take place online and it can happen anywhere, anytime. She also emphasized on capitalizing on the opportunities and expanding the horizon.
The institute will conduct a similar short course with a state university in Azerbaijan soon.
