In a significant development for women entrepreneurship, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) of BRAC University hosted a launch meeting at the American Center in Dhaka to announce its role as the implementing partner for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Project Phase 2 supported by the U.S. Department of State. This remarkable achievement follows the successful completion of the first cohort in June 2023, where CED trained and graduated 50 accomplished women entrepreneurs.
Among those present in the kick-off meeting were Ms. Sharlina Hussain-Morgan Director of Public Engagement, U.S. Embassy Dhaka, and Ms. Afshana Choudhury Joint Director, CED, along with other officials from both organizations.
The meeting outlined a comprehensive plan for the second phase of AWE commenced in August 2023. As part of this phase, CED will conduct in-person training for three cohorts, each comprising 30 women entrepreneurs, simultaneously in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet.
CED will collaborate with prominent business leaders, business associations, and alumni of the U.S. State Department to provide mentoring and incubation support to women entrepreneurs. The gathering marked the beginning of an inspiring journey dedicated to nurturing women’s entrepreneurship and leadership through the successful implementation of Chapter 2 of the AWE project in Bangladesh.
