Centre for Inclusive Architecture and Urbanism of the Department of Architecture, BRAC University, has recently won Honourable Mention in the Open Architectural Design Competition for Historic Preservation and Landscape Design of the Old Dhaka Central Jail and Redevelopment of its Surrounding Area. The competition team was led by Professor Adnan Morshed, Chairperson and Professor, Department of Architecture, and included faculty members Abul Fazal Mahmudun Nobi, Sajid-Bin-Doza, Sheikh Rubaiya Sultana Munni, Tanzil Idmam Shafique, Zillur Rahman Babu, Farhana Nizam Chowdhury, students Kongkham Parihan Thoiba and Nafis Imtiaj.
The design team received a commendation certificate and prize money of BDT One Lac from Mr Asaduzzaman Khan, MP and Honourable Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh, through a colourful award giving ceremony held at Jatiya Chitrashala Bhaban of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, ShegunBagicha, Dhaka on Monday, 30th October 2017. An exhibition showcasing all the competition entries will remain open from 9AM to 5PM everyday till 4th November 2017 at Gallery 5 of Jatiya Chitrashala Bhaban, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka.
