The 4th International Conference on Applied Psychology was held in Hilton Colombo Residency, Colombo, Sri Lanka from 25th to 27th August 2017 which was organized by the Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology. Three members from the Counseling Unit of BRAC University, Ms. Safina Binte Enayet, Ms. Anne Anthonia Baroi and Ms. Kazi Rumana Haque, Psychosocial Counselor and Lecture did their oral presentation on the research paper in the conference. The paper titled on “Influence of Psychological Training on Personal and Professional Development and Group Cohesiveness among the Staff of Residential Campus, BRAC University”. The aim of the study was to identify the impact of psychological training on the staff of the BRAC University to see whether there is any personal and professional changes happen due to this training. The other objective was to observe the impact of group bonding between the members due to this training.
Besides that, Ms. Safina Binte Enayet, Ms. Anne Anthonia Baroi and Ms. Kazi Rumana Haque, joined in the panel discussion of “From Victimhood to Empowerment: Resiliency in South Asia, Post Manmade and Natural Disasters” on 26th August 2017.They shared their experiences and challenges from the perspective of Bangladesh and discussed about the implementation of the approaches of positive psychology in the mental health arena in Bangladesh. Furthermore, they have given their noteworthy speech on the interview sessions in the Conference.
