The Professional Development Centre (PDC) at BRAC University celebrated its first certificate awarding ceremony on Thursday, 27 April 2017 recognizing faculty members who successfully completed the Certificate in Higher Education Teaching Programme. Dr. Ansar Ahmed, Director of Institutional Effectiveness, gave the welcome speech. Presenting the keynote speech, Vice Chancellor Professor Syed Saad Andaleeb, asked the teachers to go for active learning so that instead of saying 'so now what' after graduation, students are confident to do whatever they wish and to pursue it as a profession. The key objectives of the program were to introduce new teaching techniques and focus on student-centered learning. There were a total of 61 participants in the training program, of which 45 were present to receive the award.
From the Counseling Unit of BRAC University, two members; Ms. Safina Binte Enayet and Ms. Monzia Mushtaq achieved this award as they successfully completed this program. Ms. Safina and Ms. Monzia facilitate the courses of Introduction to Psychology (PSY 101) and Psychology for Architects (PSY 421) at BRACU. This award will motivate them to accomplish more quality in teaching and research as faculty members.
The certificate programme drew facilitators and resource persons from both BRAC University and external organizations such as the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and the Institute of Education and Research of Dhaka University.
