We are all going through a unique time where we are adjusting to the in person campus life and trying to maintain a work-life balance. From a mental health perspective, it is very important that we take good care of ourselves now so that we can be in our best selves when we are interacting with others.
To make this journey smoother, the Counseling Unit of BRAC University hosted two sessions on self-care and mental health wellbeing with the title of 'Discovering the Calm from Within' on 24, and 31 March 2022 for the students, and other stakeholders of the university. The sessions took place at UB02 Auditorium. The duration of the sessions was two hours.
During the sessions, different types of activities such as stretching and breathing exercises; meditation – reflecting on the inner resources; exploration and understanding of emotions; and validating ourselves with affirmations and butterfly hugs were facilitated to enhance awareness on self care.
Total 30 participants attended the sessions. They expressed that the sessions were beneficial to reduce stress, and enhance inner peace. They are interested to join such more sessions on self care, and mental wellness in future. The sessions were conducted by Shami Suhrid, Ayesha Seddiqa, and Monzia Mushtaq, Counselors, from the Counseling Unit of BRAC University. Overall, the sessions were supervised by Coordinator and Counselor Shami Suhrid, and Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director, Campus Life, BRAC University.
