The Counseling Unit of BRAC University organized a workshop, “Inhale Peace and Exhale Stress”, on the university’s Mohakhali campus on 15 February 2023.
The session was facilitated by Counselors Safina Binte Enayet, Anne Anthonia Baroi and Ayesha Seddiqa, co-facilitated by Psychosocial Counselor Ashiqur Rahman, supervised by Coordinator and Counselor Shami Suhrid and guided by Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director, Campus Life, BRAC University.
The session focused on stress which everyone experiences at one point or another in their daily lives in academic and social spheres and work. Though it might have positive effects on achieving goals, chronic stress can affect both body and mind. Along with illness, it can create anger, distraction, impatience and bad decisions.
However, it is possible to learn how to deal with stress so that it becomes more manageable and less overwhelming. When the stress is managed well, people can sustain high levels of performance with fewer health implications. They can thrive under pressure and bounce back more effectively with the challenges they face.
The workshop had 71 participants who explored and enhanced their potentials, strengths, and resources to deal with stress and cope with the present. In addition, some exercise was conducted on relief of stress. Students expressed their contentment, the need for more of such workshops throughout their university life and sought workshops on other psychosocial issues.
