The Counseling Unit of BRAC University organised a workshop titled “Joys of Positive Parenting” on 12 December, 2021. The interactive session focused on understanding parenting, exploring where parents can bring changes and implanting new coping strategies.
Parenting is the process of raising children and providing them with protection and care to ensure healthy development into adulthood. Sometimes, parents only focus on children's physical health and ignore their psychological well-being. Moreover, everyday lives have their own struggles, which may turn overwhelming. Both consciously and unconsciously, that stress could end up being projected onto children, which might adversely affect them.
However, those adverse effects can be overcome through positive parenting and healthy development of children can be ensured. The methods were shared at the workshop. Participants from within the university and outside appreciated being able to express their feelings and thoughts.
Safina Binte Enayet and Anne Anthonia Baroi organized and facilitated the event, coordinated and co-facilitated by Kazi Rumana Haque. The Counseling Unit thanks Saif Hossain, Executive Secretary of Student Life, Dr Mehtab Khanam, supervisor of the Counseling Unit, and Shami Suhrid, coordinator of Counseling Unit, for their insights and constant support.
