A Seminar on ‘Growth, Governance and Democracy,’ organized by BRAC University Economics Club as part of the (ESS) Economics and Social Science Department’s seminar series was held on the 26th May 2016 at the BRACU Auditorium.
Dr. Binayak Sen, Research Director at Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies presented a discussion on the theme and Professor Abdul Bayes, Acting Chairperson of the ESS Department, was present as Chair of the seminar.
The lecture explored the relationship between growth and governance, particularly reflecting on the links between governance, human development and social cohesion. The lecture identified the determinants of governance to be multi dimensional.
The seminar concluded with a vibrant question and answer session. Professor Abdul Bayes, Dr. Shahidur Rahman (Associate Professor, ESS), Mr. Sifat Islam Ishty (Lecturer, ESS), Dr. M. Zulfiquer Hossain (Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy) along with students participated in the session.
Other faculty members Mr. Mohammad Rezaur Razzak, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship & Strategy, BRAC Business School & Director-Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Dr. Farzana Munshi, Associate Professor of Economics, BRAC University and students attended the seminar.
