Nuzhat Shama completed her Bachelor of Architecture from BRAC University in 2022. Her thesis project, titled ‘Adaptive Rethinking of Jamuna Future Park as a Civic Space,' sought to reinvent a commercial space to function as a public domain that also serves as an intersection between nature and the built environment.
In addition to working as a Design and Research Associate at the Centre for Inclusive Architecture and Urbanism, Nuzhat is also serving as an executive architect at Interform Design Studio under Rancon Developments Ltd. Her role is focused on providing complete architectural and interior design solutions while prioritizing relevant art and design philosophies.
She has worked as an architectural designer at Inked Studios, a human-centred design studio based in Dhaka (2017-2020). She was involved with the interior and conceptual design processes for reputed salons and restaurants like Kensho Spa & Salon, The Grove Bistro, and Kiyoshi alongside marketing campaigns. Her projects have been published in Showcase Magazine and BRACU Express. She interned at Dehsar Works (2021) where her work focused on the design of a conceptual civic centre.
She has served as network coordinator for Local Development Institutions (LDI) at Youth Policy Forum, which is a policy formulation and implementation platform dedicated to the youth in Bangladesh. This exposed her to the art of crafting policies at various levels of state, government, non-government, and global platforms.
Nuzhat is an artist exploring contentious concepts like hyperrealism and surrealism. She has showcased her work in collective and solo exhibitions like Art Line (India), Dhaka Art Week, Arch Week, Noir et Blanc, Kathpencil, and Visage Ballads. Her artworks have been published in magazines and newspapers like Showcase Magazine, The Bangladeshi Perspective, The Daily Ittefaq, The Daily Star, and BRACU Express.
