International Talks by Professor Nahid Afrose Kabir in Perth, Australia
Dr Nahid Afrose Kabir, Professor of History at the Department of English and Humanities (ENH), BRAC University, delivered two talks on her recently published book, American Muslim Perspectives on Radicalization, in Perth, Western Australia. The first talk was delivered at the Centre for Muslim States and Societies at the University of Western Australia (UWA) on 10th April 2024. The second talk was delivered at the TRACS Migration Research Network at Edith Cowan University (ECU) on 11th April 2024. Australian academics, researchers, university students, strategic policy analysts, bureaucrats and other interested audience attended the events.

ENH Faculty Member presents at the IATEFL Conference, UK
Syeda Farzana Sultana, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Humanities presented a paper titled “English education among the aspiring RMG professionals: Practices and prospects” at the prestigious 57th international conference organised by the International Association of Teachers of English as Foreign Language (IATEFL) which took place in Brighton, England from 16-18 April, 2024. The conference was attended by over 4500 delegates from across the world.

Borshoboron 1431 by ENH students
The students of ENG 465: Translation Studies, Spring 2024 have organised an webinar titled “Borshoboron 1431” , showcasing recitation of their translated play scripts on 25th April 2024. The webinar was a part of the students’ graded task of translating four different short stories from Let’s Read Bangladesh and enacting them with the voice over with relevant PowerPoint slideshow. Sukla Dey, the Programme Lead of “Let’s Read Bangladesh” graced the occasion with her presence and said a few words about the application. The application encourages kids to read stories of different countries in both English and Bangla that they can download on any device. Let’s Read also holds workshops for university students who would like to get involved with translating short stories of different countries into English or Bangla. All the faculty members and students of ENH were present at the webinar and Professor Nahid Afrose Kabir, delivered the closing remarks of the event.
