Moiyen Zalal Chowdhury joined the Department of Economics and Social Sciences at BRAC University as an Assistant Professor in September 2021. Before joining Brac University Dr. Chowdhury taught at Hiroshima Jogakuin University, Japan; North South University, The University of Liberal Arts and Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. As a MEXT scholar, Dr. Chowdhury obtained his PhD in 2019 in Anthropology from Hiroshima University, completed a Post-Doctorate in 2020 at Hiroshima University. Prior to that, he completed his third Masters in Cultural Dynamics from Hiroshima University, a second Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism as a NORAD scholar from the University of Dhaka, and a Masters in Anthropology from Jahangirnagar University.

Moiyen is one of the experts of BIT ACT, an ERC project, funded by the University of Bologna, Italy. He has published in various peer-reviewed journals and presented in numerous conferences in South Asia, Japan, USA, Italy and Germany.
