AIESEC, formerly an French acronym for "Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales", is the world's largest non-profit, non-political, student run, independent student organization, having network of 30,000 members across 84 countries and 750 universities. AIESEC facilitates international exchange of thousands of students and recent graduates each year; the vision of which is to bring peace and excellence in human resources. Professor J R Choudhury, VC, BU had signed a contract with the AIESEC National Committee with the objective of forming the BU Local Chapter of AIESEC on July 2, 2003. The National Committee has disseminated the objectives of AIESEC to the students of BU and attracted 275 students for the membership. From these 275, the National Committee has selected 26 students who have shown competency and attitude of leadership as well as having CGPA of more than 3.00/4.00. An awareness program has already been organized to orient the students with the multitude dimensions of AIESEC. AIESEC at BU is now prepared to start their activities in line with the objective of the AIESEC Bangladesh.
