BRAC University Computer Club (BUCC) organized an orientation titled “En-Queue Spring 24” for new members of Spring 2024 semester on the university campus on 3 March 2024.
Moderators and executive board members introduced themselves and accorded a warm reception to the new members. They highlighted the BUCC's facilities, including a study corner, stating that the club had a dual focus on enhancing professional expertise and providing recreational opportunities.
One of the event’s guests, Dr David Dowland, Registrar of BRAC University, offered condolences for lives lost in a recent fire at Bailey Road. He also announced Afia Mubassira Islam as the club’s new co-advisor. Islam laid emphasis on the exploration of individual skills.
Dr Md Golam Rabiul Alam, a Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, recommended focusing on programming and seeking guidance from teachers. Other guests included Lecturers Afia Mubassira Islam and Arif Shakil and Senior Lecturer Md Tawhid Anwar.
A new BUCC department named “Research and Development” was also unveiled by its Director, Sabbir Bin Abdul Latif, through the inauguration of a project, “BUCC Members Attendance System”, focusing on recording attendance at club events through the scanning of RFID tags on student ID cards.
“Clutch Kings” of Reshad Romim, Assistant Director the BUCC department, was announced the winning team of an “Inter BUCC Valorant Tournament” whereas Yamin Alom as man of the tournament by Abu Hanif Siam, Director of the department.
Winners of a “Book Review Contest” were also presented awards by Sajid Imam Mahir, the former director of a BUCC press release and publication department. A quiz was also held and awards presented to the winners.
BUCC alumni members also shared stories of working at club events and lifelong connections they made. They were presented certificates.
