BRAC University’s competitive programming team ‘BRACU_Crows’ has qualified for the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals, the oldest, largest, and most prestigious computer programming contest in the world. Out of over 15,000 teams representing 3,000+ universities worldwide, only 140 teams have been chosen through rigorous rounds of competition to compete in the finals.
The team has passed through three rounds of qualification to accomplish this for the first time for any BRAC University team. The initial round was held with around 1,200 undergraduate teams from all over Bangladesh. Only 160 teams were selected for the second round, the 2022 ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest, where our team stood 4th.
In the third round, namely, the ICPC Asia West Continent Final Contest 2022, the team stood in the top 10 among 60+ preselected participating teams from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Iran, and Pakistan. Only two other teams from Bangladesh have qualified for the World Finals this year, one from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and another from the University of Dhaka (DU).
The ICPC 2023 World Finals is going to be held from April 14-19, 2024 in Luxor, Egypt. The team is all set and ready to mark their stand in this dream come true event!
