Prize giving ceremony for RS Championship held at Residential Campus

A prize giving ceremony for ‘RS Championship’ for Summer 2023 Residential Semester (RS) was held at the Savar Residential Campus of BRAC University on 17 August.

The program was attended by Professor Syed Mahfuzul Aziz, PhD, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Acting Vice-Chancellor, BRAC University, Dr David Dowland, Registrar, BRAC University, Sajedul Karim Chowdhury, Director of Operations, BRAC University, Mir Sadik Faisal, Campus Superintendent, Residential Semester, BRAC University and other faculty members and officials.

Currently, there are 1,615 students in this Residential Semester, the biggest batch till date.Students were divided into 5 houses, namely Dhrubotara, Chayaneer, Moyourponkhi, Meghdoot and Dhanshiri, as part of an initiative to establish a house system. The motto of the house system was to create team work and bonding among the students, so that they can thrive to achieve a common goal.

The program started with the national anthem.  The organizers arranged 09 sporting events which include - Cricket, Football, Basketball, Carom, Chess, Table Tennis, Spoon Race, Musical Chairs, and Haribhanga.

A total of 163 students won awards in various categories. Eight students were presented trophies for their extraordinary individual performances. Seven trophies were distributed among the champions of various sports events. All in all, Dhrubotara house was adjudged the Champion House for the second time with its members winning one gold, and seven silver.

Pro-Vice Chancellor and Acting Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University, Professor Syed Mahfuzul Aziz, PhD, addressed the students and said, “I hope you all have learned beautiful things from here. I pray that all of you become good human beings and work for your country.”

The program ended with a vote of thanks by the head of the RS Sports Committee.
