BRAC University’s Residential Campus observed International Mother Language Day and National Martyr's day with spontaneous participation of its students and officials. Marking the day, students, officers and staffs of the university paid tributes to the valiant sons of the soil who made supreme sacrifices to establish the rights of the mother language. To commemorate the day various activities took place in RS.
Students started the day with a morning procession also called Provat Feri. Students and Officials marched together, carrying flowers to the Shahid Minar to commemorate the significance of the day.
Students painted various artworks depicting scenes of language movement and painted beautiful Alpana on the Murchona.
concept of this banner was to collect powerful messages that reflects the idea of keeping the spirit of Ekushey February (21st February) alive in the minds of the younger generation, emphasizing the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices made for language.
Students participated in writing short stories in Bengali. All the stories or essays are related to the themes of language, culture and sacrifice reflecting on the importance of the day.
In the evening a Bangla movie named “Jibon Theke Nea” was shown in the Anandapur. The movie portrays the struggles and aspirations of the common people in the face of oppression and injustice. The film addresses themes such as poverty, political corruption, political exploitation, and the power of unity.
Overall, these activities are not only engaging but also serve to educate and remind everyone about the significance of International Mother Language Day and National Martyr's Day, particularly focusing on the importance of language, identity, and the sacrifices made by those who fought for our language.
