A group of students from Biotechnology and Microbiology Programs of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, BRAC University, visited the National Forensic DNA Profiling Laboratory (NFDPL) along with Dr. Mahboob Hossain and Ms Romana Siddique on 27 November 2014. NFDPL, situated in the premises of Dhaka Medical College Hospital was established in 2006 for the purpose of DNA fingerprinting in various cases including criminal record establishment. The students were given a briefing on how the DNA fingerprinting was carried out and a few cases solved by the Forensic Laboratory. They were further introduced with the different materials and equipment used during the procedure of the fingerprinting and the types of samples used. The student team included Sazzad Khan, Tasnim Mortuza Zarin, Sara Sadia Chowdhury, Nazia Chowdhury, Dipanjana Datta, Fahim Bin Najib, Mehbubun Nayeema, Anila Labonnya Modhu, Taizina Momtareen, Faria Mahjabeen, Nafisa Tabassum, D.M. Ashiquzzaman Sourav and Sanjida Akter.
