Abu Hamed M. Abdur Rahim, PhD
Professor
Dr. AHM Abdur Rahim did B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from BUET (formerly EPUET) in 1966 and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 1972. Since his Ph.D. he worked at the BUET, AUST, and UIU in Bangladesh. His work abroad includes that in the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Devry Institute of Technology (Canada), Stathclyde University, Glasgow (UK), University of Bahrain (Bahrain), King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran (Saudi Arabia). He spent a major part of his career in King Fahd University. Currently he is employed at the Brac University as a Visiting Professor in the EEE Department.
Dr. Rahim has devoted his career in research on Power Systems and Control Theory. His concentration is in the dynamic aspects of power system and its control. In the recent years he has kept him busy working on renewables, particularly on wind energy systems and their integration to power systems. He has been also researching on application of artificial intelligence on power system control. Dr. Rahim has more than 175 publications to his credit, and received more than 1100 citations from international publications. He has supervised more than 2 dozen Masters and Ph.D theses, and worked in a large number of sponsored researches. Dr. Rahim was also granted 4 patents by the United States of America government.
Dr. Rahim is a Life senior member of the IEEE (USA) and Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh.
