Tasnia Islam is a lecturer of the Microbiology Program at the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Brac University, Dhaka. She has graduated in Microbiology from Brac University in 2016 with highest distinction. Her undergraduate thesis was based on isolation of amylase producing bacteria from soil and identification using 16S rRNA gene sequencing technique. She went on to pursue her Masters on Infection Biology at the University of Glasgow, UK, after receiving the ‘University of Glasgow Chancellors Award’ and successfully graduated in 2018 with distinction. She carried out her Master’s thesis on inspecting the effect of surface layer in bacterial characteristics of Clostridium difficile and its adhesion on mammalian tissue cultures. Her research interest lies in virology, bacteriology and microbial pathogenesis.
