Umma Maimuna Alam, a student of the Department of English and Humanities, has been promoted to the position of Managing Editor of Global Commons, an Open Society University Network (OSUN) sponsored digital publication. She was earlier working as a Content Editor in Global Commons. Ahshanul Mahbub Labby, a student of BRAC Business School, has also been selected as Social Media and Outreach Manager of Global Commons.
Umma Maimuna Alam joined Global Commons in spring’ 2022 and subsequently worked for both of its issues published this year. Meanwhile, this will be the first stint of Ahshanul Mahbub Labby with the magazine. Published twice a year, Global Commons features essays, articles, creative writing and artwork produced by students from the OSUN partner institutions.
The OSUN was announced and inaugurated in 2020 by George Soros, the founder of Open Society Foundation. The OSUN’s key mission is to establish collaborations between universities, institutes and think tanks around the world towards teaching, research and other forms of exchanges between faculty members, students and university administrators. BRAC University is the only university in South Asia chosen to join the OSUN.
