Dr. Partha Pratim Das, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Head, Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship, Professor-in-Charge and Dr. B Sutradhar, Librarian, Central Library, IIT Kharagpur Research Park, Kolkata, and Joint Principal Investigator, National Digital Library of India Project Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur Kharagpur 721302, West Bengal, India visited- CSE department on 24 April and gave a talk on- A Framework for Modeling, Analysis and Transcription of Bharatanatyam Dance Performances. This seminar was organized by Professor Abdul Mottalib, Chairperson, CSE Dept. and Dr. Jia Uddin, Coordinator of Multimedia Signal and Image Processing Research Group. It took place in Research Lab (UB71201) of Department of Computer Science and Technology of Brac University. In this seminar Dr. Partha Pratim showed his recent research work which includes annotating, recognizing and storing Indian classical dance moves in digital. He also showed a demonstration of audio and video signals which are separately analyzed and the features from both video and audio namely HOG and time series features respectively are used to train machine learning algorithms such as SVM and CNN. He concluded by discussing about the future prospects of this technology. After his presentation, Dr. Partha also graciously answered some questions asked by the teachers and students present there. At the end of this seminar both the Professors were given souvenirs by the Chairperson, Professor Dr. Abdul Mottalib as a token of appreciation.
