Brac University organised an International Workshop on Computer Vision and Intelligent Systems-2019 (IWCVIS2019) on December 26, 2019. The workshop was organised by Computer Vision and Intelligent Systems (CVIS) Research Lab of Brac University in cooperation with IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter and its Brac University Student Branch. Brac University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Tamim inaugurated the event as chief guest at the university’s auditorium.
“Artificial intelligence is already a big part of your life” said Professor Tamim, pointing out that coping up with developed countries requires mandatory adaptation of new technologies. Professor Tamim also advised keeping an eye out on misuse of technology.
Md Shorif Uddin, PhD, Chair of IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter and a Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Jahangirnagar University was present as a special guest.
Keynote speeches in the plenary talk session were delivered by Professor Khan Iftekharuddin, PhD, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, Old Dominion University; Professor Atiqur Rahman Ahad, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Intelligent Media at the Osaka University; and Professor Rahamatullah Khondoker, PhD, of the Department of Computer Science at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
The event concluded with the poster presentation session. The best poster papers were awarded based on the technical merits, reviewer evaluation and recommendation from the judge’s panel.
